The Delta State Government yesterday reaffirmed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state remains united and strong, fully committed to securing victory for all its candidates in upcoming elections at every level.
This was revealed by the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, during a briefing with journalists in Asaba.
Aniagwu, who was joined by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, explained that since April 28, 2025, when the entire state political structure joined the APC, there have been ongoing efforts at various levels to further strengthen party unity.
He said, “The party leadership, guided by our Governor, recognized the need to foster greater integration across the state, so that these various consultations could help build a more cohesive party.”
“Every prominent politician was present at that meeting, and they expressed satisfaction with the governor’s performance. At the conclusion, a motion was put forward by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, pledging the full support of all party members to both the Governor and the President.”
They believe that the President, whose policies enable the governor to deliver impactful projects, should also receive the same level of support given to the governor.
“It was a unanimous endorsement at that meeting, where everyone who plays a significant role in Delta’s political landscape was present—except for maybe one or two people who likely had permission to be absent,” Aniagwu said.
He dismissed suggestions that the absence of a few individuals at the meeting, held at the Government House in Asaba, indicated any division within the party. He emphasized that consultations have been ongoing across the state to strengthen unity among members.
“Since we merged with our brothers in the APC on April 28, we’ve been actively engaged in numerous consultations at the ward, local government, federal constituency, and senatorial levels. All these efforts aim to build a stronger bond within the party,” Aniagwu explained.
“Even after the state-level stakeholders meeting, managing different interests continues. Politics is all about managing interests. Even if you’ve been in the same party for 20 years, new interests arise every year, and you have to navigate them,” he added.
