Delta state govt, HOSTCOM to boost IGR via oil communities

The Delta State Government has announced plans to collaborate with oil-producing communities to enhance Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for sustainable development.

Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Hon. Peter Uviejitobor, revealed this during a familiarization tour of host communities in Warri North and Ethiope West LGAs of the state.

He emphasized that all taxes and levies due to the state must be fully implemented by oil and gas investors, noting that Delta has long been shortchanged by some operators.

“Our host communities have been marginalized, especially in the implementation of the PIA. We’re committed to protecting their interests and improving the state’s economy,” he said.

Uviejitobor urged communities to cooperate with oil companies to maintain peace, and called for support in ensuring all vessels entering the state fulfill their financial obligations.

He reaffirmed government’s commitment to the growth and development of host communities.
