Housewife Arrested in Delta for Alleged Killing of Husband and Suspected Lover

An unidentified woman believed to be a housewife from the Isoko ethnic group has been taken into custody over the alleged killing of her husband and another woman in the Ighwre-Ovie community of Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State.

The suspect is currently being held at the Ughelli Area Command of the Delta State Police. Sources say the tragic incident followed ongoing marital problems, reportedly caused by the husband’s alleged involvement in extramarital relationships.

A resident of the community disclosed that the woman, who has two children, had frequently confronted her husband over accusations of infidelity. Trouble reportedly escalated on the day of the incident when the husband returned home drunk, leading to a heated argument that turned violent and resulted in his death.

During the altercation, a female neighbour who tried to intervene was allegedly attacked and seriously injured. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she is now receiving treatment.

The source further alleged that the suspect later went to the home of a woman believed to be her husband’s lover within the same area, where she reportedly attacked and killed her. Another resident narrowly escaped harm after raising an alarm, which drew the attention of community members and led to the suspect’s arrest.

As of the time of this report, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
