Delta State has been included in the National Merrybet 5stars Premier League for grassroots teams.
While speaking with newsmen, the coordinator of the league, Olumide Aturu said only 10 slots are remaining out of the 16 teams that are expected to participate in Delta State.
The Managing Director of the 5stars Premier League revealed that the soccer event was extended to Delta State because of her contribution to sports in the country.
He said the registration fee is 200,000 Naira as 6 Million Naira is up for grabs plus winners and runners-up in each region or state also stand a chance to win a cash prize in the preliminary stage.
The league is billed to kick off June 10th through October 1st and the grand final will be played in Lagos state.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of 5 Star Consultancy and the manager of the league, Olumide Oturu during last year’s league debut in Lagos, the league seeks to develop football in Nigeria.
“This is the opportunity to harness the talents and help improve the structure of our football in Nigeria. If we have talents from the grassroots, it helps to develop the other tiers of football like the NLO, NNL and NPFL in the long run and spark a whole of development,” he said.
