Delta State Judiciary ready to go live, computerize the judicial system – Chief Judge

The Delta State Judiciary says it is ready to go live and computerize the judicial system for the purpose of ensuring transparency, improving efficiency and entrenching integrity in the judicial process of filing cases electronically.

Chief Judge, Theresa Diai, who said this during the Nigerian Case Management System, NCMS and E-filing roll out go live ceremony, held in Asaba, noted that the E-filing system was born out of the desire to match the demands of the 21st century and to cope with the increasing number of cases in court so as to reduce the number of awaiting trials in the Nigerian prison.

Diai added that this will not only help in decongesting prisons but will also generate revenue and reduce the number of unemployed youths on the streets.

Also, the Chief Judge of Borno state who doubles as the Chairman of the Judiciary Information Technology Policy Committee, Kashim Zanna, at the ceremony encouraged the use of the software insisting that justice will be delivered to Nigerians effectively and efficiently through this means.

Meanwhile, the state Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, represented by the Commissioner for Science and Technology, Odinigwe Daniel, commended the state judiciary for taking the leap, hoping that the process will help with attaining justice within the state and beyond.
