Delta State Police Nab Additional Suspects in Cult-Related Murder

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have apprehended two more suspects in connection with the murder of 31-year-old Alex Adanike in Ughelli, Delta State.

The arrests were made during targeted raids on criminal hideouts led by officers under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi. According to Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the operation is part of a broader effort to crack down on criminal networks across the state.

Police investigations revealed that the incident occurred on January 20, 2026, in Agbarha-Otor community, where suspected members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, also known as Aro Bagger, allegedly attacked Adanike after mistaking him for his twin brother, Okpako Adanike. Earlier in the investigation, two suspects Warri Ochuko and Lucky Okohwoake had already been arrested.

Following further intelligence-driven operations, police later arrested Tega Michael, 26, from the Omutu area of Ughelli, and Tena Sagbene, 32, of Oseri Street, Ughelli. Authorities confirmed that all four suspects were arraigned before the Ughelli High Court on March 31, 2026, and have been remanded in prison custody as investigations continue and efforts to tackle cult-related crimes intensify.
