Delta State to Leverage Digital Innovation and BOI Funding to Strengthen Manufacturing

In a bid to transform Delta State into a thriving industrial hub, the state government has announced plans to secure a ₦1 billion loan from the Bank of Industry (BOI) to accelerate industrialisation and promote technology-driven manufacturing.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori revealed this initiative during the 39th Annual General Meeting of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Edo/Delta Branch, held in Asaba. Represented at the event by the Deputy Director of Industries, Mr. Ocheli Jude, the governor explained that the loan forms part of a strategic partnership with BOI aimed at providing financial support to manufacturers and medium-scale industries across the state.

Oborevwori emphasized the need for Delta State to adapt to global shifts in digitalisation, green energy, and artificial intelligence, which are redefining the future of manufacturing. “Government is collaborating with the Bank of Industry on a one-billion-naira loan scheme to boost industrialisation in the state,” he said. “Digitalisation, green energy, and artificial intelligence are rapidly shaping the global manufacturing ecosystem, and we must take proactive steps to remain competitive.”

He added that the state government is working closely with MAN to identify key industry needs, strengthen local production capacity, and support manufacturers facing challenges such as high operational costs, supply chain disruptions, and infrastructure gaps.

Speaking at the event, MAN President, Mr. Otunba Francis Meshioye, noted that the AGM’s theme, “Enhancing the Nigerian Manufacturing Landscape through Digital Innovation,” is both timely and relevant. He highlighted that the global economy is evolving rapidly and that the Fourth Industrial Revolution presents unique opportunities that the Nigerian manufacturing sector must seize.

Earlier, MAN Edo/Delta Branch Chairman, Mr. Ehizogie Osadolor, observed that digital tools are already reshaping manufacturing output and competitiveness in Nigeria. “The adoption of technology and digital innovation is transforming the manufacturing landscape by streamlining production processes, improving efficiency, enabling faster output, and supporting better decision-making,” he said. He further noted that, despite Nigeria’s economic fluctuations, manufacturers leveraging automation, data analytics, and digital supply chain systems are recording measurable gains in productivity and cost efficiency.
