Delta State will no longer be a haven for criminals – DG security, Tonwe

In a bold and decisive move to rid Delta State of all forms of criminality, the state government has declared total war on crime.

The announcement comes as part of a renewed and intensified security operation tagged “Operation Sweep”, which is now active across all major towns and communities in Delta State.

Director General of Delta State Security, Hon. David Tonwe, stated unequivocally that the government will no longer tolerate any form of lawlessness. He affirmed that the days of leniency are over, and that anyone found engaging in criminal activities such as theft, kidnapping, armed robbery, or drug trafficking will face the full wrath of the law.

According to Tonwe, Operation Sweep has been reinforced and deployed with “full chest” to strategic junctions, streets, and black spots throughout Delta State. This robust presence is meant to deter criminal elements and reassure citizens of their safety and the government’s commitment to protecting lives and property.

He further warned that those attempting to orchestrate crime under any guise will not be spared. “Let it be clear,” Tonwe said, “there will be no sacred cows. Whether you are a syndicate leader, an enabler, or a petty thief, if caught, you will face serious legal consequences. Delta State will no longer be a haven for criminals.”

The DG emphasized that this campaign is not just about enforcement but also about prevention. He called on parents and guardians to take responsibility for the moral upbringing of their children and wards.

“Warn your children. Let them know crime is not a path to follow. We must collectively instill discipline and promote positive values among our youth,” he urged.

Residents across Delta State have welcomed the development, expressing optimism that a more secure environment will foster business growth, community peace, and overall socio-economic development. Many have lauded the government’s renewed seriousness and called for sustained action without fear or favour.

With Operation Sweep now fully operational and backed by uncompromising political will, Delta State appears poised to usher in a new era of law, order, and accountability. \

The message is clear: crime will no longer be tolerated, and the government is ready to take all necessary steps to protect its people.
