Delta SUBEB Lifts Suspension of Secretary

The Delta State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has reversed the three-month suspension previously placed on the Education Secretary of Oshimili South Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Mrs. Appolonia Allanah Oputa-Otutu. The reinstatement will take effect from March 1, 2026.

The announcement was made in a statement issued by the Executive Chairman of Delta SUBEB, Hon. Chief Samuel Mariere. He explained that the Board reached its decision after carefully reviewing appeals from key stakeholders across the state.

According to Mariere, the suspension was lifted following “careful consideration of appeals from notable individuals from different parts of the state.”With the decision now in place, Mrs. Oputa-Otutu is expected to return to her duties starting from the approved date.

“The three-month suspension earlier imposed on the Education Secretary for Oshimili South LGEA, Mrs. Appolonia Allanah Oputa-Otutu, has been lifted effective March 1, 2026,” the statement said.The SUBEB Chairman also confirmed that all rights and privileges attached to her office have been fully restored from that date.

Although the Board did not disclose the reasons behind the initial suspension, it expressed confidence in its decision, describing it as an opportunity for a fresh start. Mrs. Oputa-Otutu is now set to resume oversight of education administration in Oshimili South following her reinstatement.
