Delta State Ministry of Education, has announced commencement of the rescheduled Basic Education Certificate Examination, BECE, saying the examination will start  from Thursday June 6 and end Tuesday June 11.
Recall that the examination was shifted indefinitely as a result of the strike declared Monday June 3 by the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress.
A statement from the Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Augustine Oghoro, on behalf of the Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu indicated that the examination would end on Tuesday, June 11 2024.
It directed the Chief Inspectors of Education (CIEs) in the 25 Local Government Areas to further inform the school heads of the new dates of Thursday, 6th , Saturday, 8th , Monday, 10th and Tuesday 11th of June, 2024 for the BECE examinations
The statement said that the Ministry considered it necessary to take advantage of the one week suspension of the strike to conduct the examination so as to avoid further delay.
It advised parents to ensure that their children and wards in JS 3 class participatein the examinations
The new timetable will see the students taking the subjects earlier scheduled for Monday June 3, on Thursday June 6.
While the subjects originally fixed for Tuesday June 4, will now be taken on Friday June 7, with the subjects earlier scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, now to be taken on Saturday June 8, Monday June 10 and Tuesday June 11 respectively.              Â
The statement sighted by Fresh Angle International on Tuesday evening, noted :
“2024 BECE EXAM. With respect to the above, kindly be informed that the 2024 BECE EXAMS commences on Thursday, 6th June, 2024 across Delta State. The time table will proceed in a chronological order, thereby adjusting itself to allow candidates sit for the exam on Saturday, 8th June, 2024. The Exam is expected to elapse on Tuesday, 11th June, 2024. All BECE Validation lists should be submitted before the end of the Exams, please. Thank you.”
