The Delta State Commissioner for Youth Development, Barrister ThankGod Trakiriowei, has passionately charged students of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, and Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro, to fully embrace the state government’s Tertiary Entrepreneurship Programme (TEP) as it enters its second cycle.
During a two-day sensitization tour of the institutions, the Commissioner described the TEP as a transformative, life-changing initiative deliberately designed by His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, to equip undergraduates with practical entrepreneurial skills, innovation support, mentorship, and access to seed funding and market linkages.
Addressing excited students on both campuses, Trakiriowei emphasized that the programme is a strategic intervention aimed at repositioning Delta youths from mere job seekers to employers of labour.
“This is not just another government scheme; it is His Excellency’s deliberate effort to prepare our youths for a prosperous and self-reliant future. TEP will empower you to create value, solve societal problems, innovate, and establish sustainable businesses even before graduation,” he stated.
He assured the students of continuous government backing and urged them to take full ownership of the opportunity.
“Together, we are building a generation that is innovative, financially independent, empowered, and future-ready. Delta State youths are moving forward, and the future is indeed brighter under this administration,” he added.
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth Development, Dr. Ngozi Mogbolu, advised eligible students to start preparing their applications ahead of the official opening of the portal, noting that the first cycle had produced inspiring success stories of student-entrepreneurs who are already thriving.
The sensitization tour officially flagged off activities for the second cycle of the Tertiary Entrepreneurship Programme.
