Youths from Ukala, Ezi, Ebu, and other nearby communities in Oshimili North and Aniocha North Local Government Areas of Delta State walked through the streets of Asaba, heading all the way to the Government House to share their worries about the poor condition of the Ukala-Ezi-Ebu road.
They carried placards with messages like “Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, fix our road,” “We are losing millions because of the neglected Ukala-Ezi-Ebu road,” and “Our road is a death trap.”. However, they were stopped from entering the Government House gates.
Speaking for the group, Mr. Henry Mojume, the Convener of Concerned Youth for Good Governance, said the people of Ukala-Okwute-Ezi-Ebu-Okpunor have faced years of being ignored when it comes to this important road.
He explained that this road is crucial for linking their communities to markets, schools, health centers, and other important services in Delta State.
Mr. Johnson Erijo, the Chief of Staff at the Government House in Asaba, went to meet the protesters at the Inter-Bua Roundabout.
He thanked them for their peaceful protest and said that both the local government chairman from Oshimili North and his colleague from Aniocha North had already shared the current state of the road with them.
Erijo also promised that the governor is making efforts to develop all parts of the state under the MORE Agenda.
