DESTMA Assures Keke Riders of Fairness Amid Rule Changes

The Keke Riders Association, representing the Delta South and Delta Central branches, paid a visit to the office of the Director General of the Delta State Traffic Management Authority (Destma), Hon. Dr. Benjamin Essien Okiemute, located in Asaba, Delta State.

Led by their Chairman, Ogbe David, the association aimed to discuss the new traffic regulations that are scheduled to be implemented on July 1, 2025.

They requested the Governor, through the DG, to reconsider certain rules that could affect their operations and earnings.

The Director General, Hon. Dr. Benjamin Essien Okiemute, expressed understanding of the riders’ concerns but underscored that the new regulations are designed to enhance road safety for all users.

He reassured them that the authority’s main objective is to restore order and foster a positive driving culture in Delta State.

The meeting concluded with the riders praising the Governor’s initiatives and expressing their support for both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, for re-election in 2027.
