The Director of Nursing Services in Delta State, Mrs. Gloria Igumbor has applauded the immediate past Governor and Speaker of the state for the successful establishment of the colleges of nursing and schools of midwifery in the state.
Igumbor said with the help of former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the present Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, who was the Speaker of the House of Assembly as at then, made it possible for Delta State to be the only state in the country to have three colleges of nursing and two schools of Midwifery under her leadership.
Igumbor made this assertion in her office at the new secretariat in Asaba while speaking to journalists about the increase in index numbers from 30 to about 100 and above in admitting students into the colleges of nursing and midwifery across the state.
She noted that the politics of convincing the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria to allow Delta State have more of these institutions set up in the state was as a result of her efforts with the leadership of the state government.
She emphasized on how this achievement has encouraged more Deltans to be interested in the nursing profession.
Speaking further on the achievements by the state, the Director clarified that it was never as a result of the three Senatorial districts rather the efforts and foresight of the Delta State government through her office.
She concluded that more efforts will be made by the Sheriff Oborewori-led administration with his M.O.R.E agenda to build more classroom facilities across the Nursing Colleges and Schools of Midwifery in the state.
