Don’t neglect oil-producing community, appoint Agediga as Commissioner – Disi
A community leader in the oil-rich Sokebolou community in Ogulagha Kingdom of Burutu LGA of Delta State, Engr. Patrick Soji Disi, has called on the state governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, not to neglect the oil-producing community with regards to the dividends of good governance in his ‘More Agenda’ government.
Disi, who is the secretary-general of the community, stated that the community expects more from the Oborevwori-led administration. The community scribe implored the governor to be a promise keeper and remember the people of Sokebolou and Ogulagha Kingdom in the areas of appointments and infrastructural development.
He specifically called on the governor to consider and appoint Amb. Shedrack Agediga (JP) as a commissioner with a befitting portfolio in his cabinet.
The community leader vouching for Agediga’s competency, loyalty, charisma, and pragmatism, described him as a critical thinker with proactive ideas and requisite knowledge that can contribute immensely to the development of Delta State, adding that Amb. Agediga (JP) is an illustrious son of Sokebolou town and Ogulagha Kingdom, whom they are well pleased with.
The secretary-general of the community, called on Governor Sheriff to complete the already approved Sokebolou Canalization Project, Ogulagha Odimodi Road project, and Ayakoromor Bridge project, in his first year in office while the people await new projects to be initiated and executed in the riverine areas of the Kingdom.
“Today we want to put the Governor of our dear Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori on notice concerning our expectations from his administration. First, we congratulate him for his successful swearing-in as governor of our dear state. The expectations of our people from his administration are high.
“In line with the yearnings of our people, we urge His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to partner with our community in the areas of infrastructural development, appointments, youth empowerment, and human capital development.
“We want His Excellency to consider one of our own, Amb. Shedrack Agediga (JP) as a Commissioner in this government. Amb. Shedrack Agediga is a tested and trusted leader. His performances in all his previous offices are visible even to the blind and audible to the deaf. The capability of Amb. Shedrack Agediga to contribute meaningfully to peace, unity and development of our dear state is never in doubt. He has done it before and will even do better if given the opportunity as a member of the State Executive Council.
“Hence, it becomes imperative to call on His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevweri to bring on board this pan-Deltan with an impeccable character and a burning desire for development to contribute his quota towards the growth of our dear state for the overall good of all Deltans.
“We equally appeal to His Excellency to prioritize and complete all stalled projects in our areas started by the previous government in his first year in office. Some of these projects are Sokebolou canalization, Ogulagha Odimodi Road, Ayakoromor Bridge, etc. These projects are important to us, they will contribute in no smaller ways to the socioeconomic growth of our riverine communities,” the statement reads in parts.
Disi, therefore, offered the peace and support of Sokebolou people to the new administration and promised to partner with the governor for the needed development of the community and the state.
