D’Tigress Beat Cameroon Move to AfroBasket Semi-final

Nigeria’s women’s national basketball team, D’Tigress, has advanced to the semi-finals of the 2025 Women’s Afrobasket tournament in Côte d’Ivoire.

In their quarter-final matchup on Thursday night at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan, the team triumphed over Cameroon with a final score of 83-47.

This significant win marks the sixth consecutive time D’Tigress has reached the semi-finals, a streak that commenced after the 2013 tournament.

The Nigerian team began the game with intensity, quickly building a commanding lead.

They finished the first quarter with a score of 21-9 and held onto their lead at halftime, leading 41-29.

The turning point came in the third quarter, during which Nigeria scored 25 points while Cameroon managed only two, effectively sealing the outcome of the match.

D’Tigress continued to dominate in the final quarter, achieving a victory margin of 36 points.

Forward Amy Okoronkwo emerged as the highest scorer of the game with 18 points, while Victoria Balogun and Nicole Enabosi each added 12 points to the team’s success.

Looking forward, Nigeria will compete against Senegal in the semi-finals on Saturday.

D’Tigress is now just one step away from securing their fifth consecutive Women’s Afrobasket championship title.
