The Delta State Government (DSTG) has shut down Bolero Hotel and Nightclub in Agbor over allegations that the facility was being used for underage prostitution and the sale and use of illegal drugs.
The decision came after an order from the Delta State High Court in Agbor Judicial Division, Ika South LGA, issued on February 10, 2026. According to court documents, Orewa Ekene, who operates under the name Bolero Concepts, was charged with six counts related to human trafficking, in violation of Section 17(c) of the Delta State Human Trafficking (Prohibition) Law, 2024 (Charge No. AG/1C/2026: Delta State v. Orewa Ekene). He pleaded not guilty and was remanded at the Agbor Custodial Centre. The case was adjourned until March 3, 2026, for further hearing.
During the proceedings, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice asked the court to freeze and seal the hotel and nightclub, arguing that the premises were linked to criminal activities involving minors and illegal drugs. In a ruling delivered on February 11, 2026, the court approved the request pending the continuation of the case.
This move follows a similar action taken in December 2025, when Happy Home Children Orphanage in Okwe was sealed over allegations related to child trafficking. The DSTG said the closures are part of its broader crackdown on human trafficking, underage prostitution, and drug-related offences across the state.
