Ede Dafinone Honoured for Championing Strategic Planning and Ethical Leadership

Senator Ede Dafinone, who represents Delta Central Senatorial District, has been awarded a prestigious Fellowship by the Institute of Planning, Nigeria.

The honour comes in recognition of his significant contributions to raising awareness and promoting professional ethics in the fields of planning and administration.

The Institute praised Senator Dafinone as a forward-thinking leader whose consistent efforts have helped shape conversations around strategic development, high professional standards, and effective policy-making within Nigeria’s planning sector.

In his remarks after receiving the award, Senator Dafinone affectionately known as the “Super Senator” by his supportersexpressed heartfelt appreciation to the Institute. He described the recognition as a powerful encouragement to continue championing purposeful planning as a key driver of national development.

“This recognition strengthens my resolve to help build a stronger planning culture in Nigeria one rooted in vision, data, and discipline,” he said. “With my sponsored bill to establish the Chartered Institute of Planning of Nigeria, our goal is to formalize professional standards and align the country’s development strategies with global best practices.”

Senator Dafinone also called on stakeholders in both the public and private sectors to treat structured planning as a national priority, stressing that meaningful progress depends on intentional strategy, professionalism, and a long-term outlook.

“Let’s continue shaping the future through intentional planning,” he added. “Because when we plan with purpose, we’re not just anticipating the future we’re preparing to shape it.”
