Egbo, Atano, Terry Noah, Majemite lead mass defection to APC in Ughelli North

The Executive Chairman, Olorogun Jaro Egbo, alongside Vice Chairman Chief Meg Atano, SUVR Terry Noah, Chief Majemite, and several other influential leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ughelli North Local Government Area has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The high-profile defection was formalized as the leaders collected their APC membership cards during a gathering attended by the LG APC Chairman, Hon. Onoabedje Obakpororo, and other top party executives.

Speaking during the event, Egbo emphasized the vibrancy of Ughelli North and critiqued the disparity between the state government’s publicized achievements and the realities on ground, saying that the move to APC was a step towards familiarization and reintegration of political forces at the grassroots.

Egbo also announced the formation of a three-man committee in each of the 11 wards of the LGA to oversee full implementation of party strategies, and support ward chairmen in preparing for upcoming elections. A larger reconciliation meeting, merging former PDP and APC structures, is planned to fast-track unity and build a new party secretariat for efficient administration.

APC LG Chairman, Hon. Onoabedje Obakpororo welcomed the defectors, stressing the need for unity. “We must now work together to deliver our candidates across all levels in the coming elections. The old APC and PDP rivalry is now history,” he said.

SUVR Terry Noah expressed appreciation for the warm reception and pledged full collaboration between the old PDP bloc and APC leadership.

The event concluded with the official registration of Egbo and his allies into the APC, facilitated by their respective ward chairmen marking a strategic shift in Ughelli North’s political landscape.
