Elumelu urges Nigerians to have faith in Democracy

The immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, OON, has urged the citizens to continue to have faith in the country’s democratic system.

In a statement on Thursday, June 12, 2025, Elumelu commended the resilience and determination of Nigerians in upholding democratic principles despite the challenges.

The former Minority Leader saluted the  sacrifices of the leaders of the country who fought to institute democracy in Nigeria adding that democracy is a priceless national possession that must be cherished and protected.

“As we mark this significant day, I urge all citizens to continue to have faith in our democracy and to remain committed to the ideals of democratic governance despite the challenges we are facing as a country.

“Our democracy is a product of the sacrifices of many, and I appreciate the leaders who fought hard and even paid the supreme sacrifice to bring about this precious gift,” Elumelu said.

Elumelu also commended President Bola Tinubu for his RENEWED HOPE, and the various State Governors, particularly, the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori for his MORE AGENDA, and the various Council Chairmen in Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in Delta State for their efforts in sustaining democracy through people-oriented projects and programs.

He noted that the commitment of these leaders to the welfare of the people is a clear attestation to the gain of the right leadership in a democratic governance.

Elumelu, a renowned democrat of no mean repute, reiterated his unalloyed commitment to people-centered politics, and public service with integrity and dedication, maintaining that his belief that the people should be the beneficiaries of the democratic system remains unshakable.

While wishing all citizens a happy Democracy Day celebration, the former Minority Leader called on Nigerians to work towards building a brighter future for all, emphasizing the importance of cherishing and protecting democracy.
