Enough Is Enough, No Light No Pay

Enough Is Enough, No Light No Pay

As someone who resides in Itamerin area. I can categorically state that the electricity supply in my own community and other communities are abysmally poor and extremely worse. No light yet IBEDC brings bills over the poor electricity supply. We can’t pay for the light we didn’t consume. We are seriously cheated by the IBEDC.

This poor supply of electricity has made it difficult to run a business and its causes a lot of problems. No light to charge our gadgets, pumping and ironing etc.

We have had several meetings, engagements and a peaceful protest with the IBEDC – Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company officials and stakeholders more than five times but yet no positive changes and that’s why we took this step of no light no pay.

This decision was made by the Illustrious Joint Community Development Association IJCDA, an association that comprises almost 38 communities in Ilorin West & South LG under the leadership of Comr. Shamsudeen Alagbo. These are the community areas experiencing poor electricity supply; Itamerin, Alore, Abayawo, Oloje, Gaa- Osibi, Agbarigidama, Abeemi, Anifowoshe, tegbesun, Medina, Isale Banni, Addabiyyah etc. The above mentioned communities have started paste notice bill of No light No pay in their various communities.

This is an analysis of energy used for the Month of July; 25 hours 44 minutes out of 744 hours, energy losses were 718 hours 16 minutes. We also have comprehensive records and analysis of energy used in the last five months intact. Sometimes we might have 20 or 30 minutes light for the whole day while sometimes we might not have light for good two to three days.

In a nutshell, No light No pay over this poor electricity supply and you shouldn’t be distributing any bills within the above mentioned communities.
