Environmental Sanitation: Delta Govt Restricts Movement on Saturday, July 26

To ensure total compliance of this month environmental sanitation exercise, the Delta State Government, has restricted persons and vehicular movements for three hours, between 7.00am and 10.am, Saturday July 26.

The State Ministry of Information made the announcement in a statement Wednesday, and was credited to the Director of Public Communication/ Functioning Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Harold Ojji.

It read, “It is hereby announced for the information of the public, particularly residents in Delta State, that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise for the month of July will hold on Saturday, 26th July, 2025, between the hours of 7.00 a.m. and 10.00 a.m.

“During the exercise, there will be restriction of movement of persons and vehicles and residents are advised to cut overgrown weeds, desilt their drainages and keep their environment clean to prevent the spread of diseases, as it is the responsibility of all residents to clean 20 metres radius of their premises.

“The Honourable Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Ejiro Jamani, Local Government Chairmen and other relevant stakeholders in the environment sector will monitor the exercise across the state.

“Officials of the Delta State Waste Management Board, Local Government Councils and other relevant authorities are to evacuate the resultant waste to approved dump sites. It is emphasized that those found not taking part in the exercise will be brought before the mobile Magistrate Court for prosecution.”
