Eric Chelle: Nigeria Can Still Qualify for World Cup

Coach Eric Chelle has indicated that while the Super Eagles are viewed as unlikely to secure a spot in the 2026 World Cup, his squad is determined to win their last four qualifying matches.

Reports suggest that next month, the Super Eagles will welcome Rwanda in Uyo, followed by a tough encounter against group leaders South Africa.

Additionally, it’s reported that in October, they will travel to Lesotho before coming back home to play against Benin.

Eric Chelle and his team are committed to proving their critics wrong by achieving victories in their remaining qualifiers, thus improving their chances of making it to next year’s Mundial.

“I know many have already written us off,” he stated. “But I am determined.

“We have four matches remaining, and my players and I will give our all to win those games.”

South Africa is currently leading the qualifying group with 13 points, while Rwanda is in second place with eight points, tied with Benin, who is third.

Nigeria occupies the fourth position with seven points, with only the group winners earning an automatic qualification for the World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
