Father of nine kills self in Jeddo, Delta

A father of nine children, identified simply as Mr Charles, has reportedly died by suicide in the Jeddo community of Delta State.

It was gathered that the gory incident occurred in the early hours of Monday.

The man allegedly took his own life after drinking an insecticide.

Sources who are privy to the incident said that the said Mr Charles, who lived in the Jeddo community of Okpe Local Government Area, drank the insecticide at his residence and proceeded to his in-law’s place at nearby Ugbokodo, where he eventually gave up the ghost.

It was gathered that before the incident, Charles, who was a member of Jeddo Community Vigilante, had a heated argument with his wife, pleading with her not to leave him.

The wife however reportedly refused to hearken to his plea.

Although the late Charles did not leave behind any suicide note, empty bottles of the insecticide were reportedly discovered in his pockets.

The Police Public Relations Officer for the Delta State Command, SP Bright Edafe, could not be reached for comments on the incident as of the time of filing this report as he did not pick up his calls when our correspondent reached out to him.
