First Lady Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori supports OYA Campaign to protect girls from cervical cancer

First Lady and Wife of the Governor of Delta State, Her Excellency, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, who is also the Founder of the You Matter Charity Foundation on Wednesday attended the official launch of the OYA Campaign held at Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba.

The campaign, themed “Protecting Our Girls Against Cervical Cancer Through HPV Vaccination,” is a collaboration between Girl Effect and the Delta State Primary Health Care Development Agency.

Deaconess Oborevwori who was represented by the Wife of the Deputy Governor, Her Excellency, Mrs. Catherine Onyeme, described the campaign as a vital step toward safeguarding adolescent girls.

She revealed that over 331,919 girls aged 9 to 14 had received the HPV vaccine since its rollout in May 2024.

In her remarks, Deaconess Oborevwori expressed gratitude for the Girl Respects HPV Vaccination Vanguard Award and restated her commitment to girl-child health advocacy.

She also thanked Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for prioritising the wellbeing of Deltans and urged continued awareness on HPV vaccination and good nutrition.
