Flooding: Delta govt, DESOPADEC commence clearing up canals and waterways in Sapele

The Executive Chairman of Sapele Local Council, Hon. Eugene Inoaghan has warned that residents in Sapele should not use the canals or drainages as a dump site as the Ministry of Environment in conjunction with Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) are clearing up canals to rescue the problem of flooding in Sapele and other parts of the State.

Hon. Eugene Inoaghan gave this charge while speaking to journalists in Sapele while receiving the Chairman of DESOPADEC, Olorogun John Obukowho Nani and the Managing Director of the Commission, Chief Festus Ochonogho, on supervisory duty with the team going round oil producing areas affected by flooding, to clear up the blocked drainage and waterways system in various local governments in Delta State.

Inoaghan noted that the efforts of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to make sure the state is flood free was fully appreciated by the people of Sapele.

Also speaking during the ongoing clearing up of canals and waterways exercise across the state, the Chairman of of DESOPADEC, Olorogun John Nani asserted that every flood prone oil-producing areas will be cleared to avoid flooding when it rains.

Nani urge the residents to take advantage of the efforts of the state government led by His Excellency, Sheriff Oborevwori in putting an end to  the challenges faced by perennial flooding across the state.
