Football Match to Mark Delta 8th Assembly’s Second Anniversary

Everything is now arranged for the friendly football match between the members of the Delta State House of Assembly and those of the State Executive Council.

The match is set to take place at Stephen Keshi’s Stadium in Asaba at 4pm tomorrow, Saturday, June 21, 2025, as part of the celebration marking two years of the 8th Assembly of the Delta State House of Assembly.

Reports indicate that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who celebrated his 62nd birthday just two days prior to the match, will lead the State Executive Council’s team, while the Speaker of the State Legislature, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, aged 46, will serve as captain for the State Assembly’s team.

Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Nkem Nwaeke, shared that the event aims to enhance unity, teamwork, healthy competition, and friendship among members of the Delta State government’s Legislative and Executive branches.

He also noted that on Sunday, June 22, 2025, the Speaker will guide members of the 8th Assembly in a thanksgiving service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Region 34 Headquarters, located behind Junior Staff Quarters, Asaba.

Nwaeke mentioned that this thanksgiving event, scheduled for 10am, will conclude with a reception for guests at the Legislators’ Quarters on Okpanam Road, Asaba.

The Chief Press Secretary, on behalf of his Principal, extends an invitation to the people of Delta State to participate in these events, which are designed to promote unity, peace, and development within the state.
