Footballer slumps, dies during training in Agbor

A footballer, Onyebuchi Chidubem in Agbor on Saturday slumped and died during training. The Winners FC player was reported to have slumped without contact and efforts to administer CPR on him by the people around proved abortive. By the time he was rushed to the nearby General Hospital Agbor, he was adjudged dead.

Onyebuchi Chidubem was a former KG Sports Academy Agbor player from 2019-2022 before he joined Winners FC.

He was training with the Ogala All Stars team that usually trains on Saturday morning to keep fit.

His death was a shock to football faithfuls in Agbor as many wondered what may have happened.

Meanwhile Chairman of Agbor Football Coaches and Directors Union (AFCADU) Coach Onyeka Alika has declared 3 days mourning period in honour of the fallen player and all Friendly matches suspended during the period.

“He is a player with a member of the union and so we need to give him this respect, all friendly matches should be suspended to allow for proper mourning”, he wrote in the AFCADU WhatsApp Forum.
