Osimhen

Victor Osimhen is set to arrive in Istanbul this week as Galatasaray finalizes his eagerly awaited €75 million transfer from Napoli.

Galatasaray fans are filled with anticipation, as club officials complete the final details of the deal to present the Nigerian international. As reported by Turkish outlet Fanatik, the club’s vice president, Abdullah Kavukcu, is expected to travel to Italy today (Tuesday) or tomorrow to finalize discussions and possibly return with the striker.

The club aims to introduce Osimhen during their home match against Lazio on Saturday, August 2. An agreement has already been established with both Napoli and the player’s management team.

Galatasaray is set to transfer €75 million to Napoli, with €40 million being paid upfront and the remaining €35 million to be settled in installments by the end of 2026. At his new club, Osimhen is expected to earn a remarkable €16 million per year.

Osimhen’s arrival would significantly enhance Galatasaray’s attacking options, as he just concluded an outstanding season, participating in 41 games, scoring 37 goals, and providing eight assists.

In a recent interview shared on a Nigerian YouTube channel, Osimhen reflected on his modest upbringing in Lagos. The forward expressed heartfelt memories of growing up with his parents and six siblings in a single-room apartment.

He recounted how childhood friends with similar dreams had to abandon football when their local field was shut down. Eager to avoid a similar outcome, Osimhen shared that he trained wherever possible, frequently outside of his neighborhood.

“At one point, I had to pause my playing just to get by,” he reflected. “I took on odd jobs like carrying water, but inside, I knew my place was on the pitch.”

Osimhen explained that these early hardships instilled resilience in him and fueled his determination. “In my background, nothing is given to you. You must earn everything,” he expressed.

Despite achieving international fame, the 26-year-old has not concealed the challenges that come with celebrity status. In a discussion shared on Instablog via X (previously Twitter), Osimhen admitted that fame has restricted some of his freedom.

“Fame can be a heavy weight,” he expressed. “There are activities I wish to engage in, simple ones, but I am unable to, because of my current status.”

He shared an emotional moment, reminiscing about how he missed his daughter’s first public appearance due to the overwhelming presence of fans.

Despite his entourage of bodyguards, Osimhen expressed that he feels most at ease around ordinary individuals. “As long as I’m safeguarded, I prefer to be with everyday people,” he stated. “That’s where I experience the most joy.

This is my existence, and I wish to live it according to my preferences.” His impending arrival in Turkey is highly anticipated, not just for the influence he will have on the field but also for the unique personal story he carries with him.
