As the Ghana Black Queens prepare to face the Super Falcons in a friendly match on Sunday, head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has described Nigeria as one of Africa’s strongest teams, boasting talented players in every position. Speaking to GFA Communications after Ghana’s 4-2 victory over Benin and a previous match against Malawi, Björkegren explained that these games provided valuable opportunities to assess his squad and highlight areas that need improvement.
The coach stressed that the upcoming clash with Nigeria would be a major challenge, one he believes will help push his team to their limits ahead of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). “It’s going to be a tough game, but that’s exactly what we need. My players have proven that even at their lowest, their standard remains high,” he said.

Björkegren added, “We know we can score goals, and we’ve built a solid defence. It will be exciting to go up against one of the best teams on the continent.” The Black Queens will face the Super Falcons on Sunday, 29 June 2025, in their final pre-WAFCON preparation match before the tournament begins.
