Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has directed the immediate reopening of the closed Okogbe access road in Ughelli to provide instant relief to motorists and residents battling severe traffic congestion around the ongoing Otovwodo Junction Flyover project.
The governor’s swift intervention came amid mounting complaints from road users over prolonged gridlock that has turned the area into a nightmare for commuters and commercial drivers.
Following the directive, the Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Reuben Izeze, led a team to the site yesterday where the Okogbe link road was identified as a ready alternative route.
Speaking during the inspection, Izeze disclosed that the corridor has been under intense pressure due to heavy haulage trucks diverting from failed portions of adjoining roads.
He confirmed that the contractor handling the flyover, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, has been instructed to reopen the Okogbe access road without further delay, assuring residents that normalcy would return soon.
Meanwhile, Governor Oborevwori has ordered the immediate rehabilitation of the collapsed sections of the Ubeji-Egbokodo-Refinery Road in Warri South Local Government Area.
