Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural and Riverine Roads) Charles Aniagwu has said linking rural communities with durable roads will boost the socio-economic well-being of rural dwellers.
Aniagwu stated this shortly after the inspection of the construction of Jolly Avenue in Onicha-Ugbo, Aniocha North Local Government Area of the state, saying Governor Sheriff Oborevwri is ready to do that.
He said that Governor Oborevwori was determined to deliver no fewer than 130km of roads across the state ahead of his first anniversary in office.
He urged the contractor and the supervising engineers in the ministry to ensure they deliver quality work for the people.
“We are here today at the instance of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to see the level of work done on this road and I can tell you that I am very impressed with the speed of work here.
“Governor Oborevwori is determined to link rural communities across the state with very durable roads that can stand the test of time.
“The governor believes that once the people are connected with quality roads, it will improve their socio-economic development of the people.
“As a state government, we are taking advantage of the dry season to deliver on some roads across the state and in that regard, we are targeting no fewer than 130km of roads to be delivered and ready for inauguration ahead of Governor Oborevwori’s first anniversary in office.
“I have told the contractor and the supervising engineers in the ministry to ensure they deliver quality work for the people in appreciation of their support to the government over the years,” Aniagwu stated.
