Gusau charges Participants on Application as NFF Wraps up CAF B-License Coaching Course

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau (MON), has called on participants of the CAF B-License coaching course to put into practical use the knowledge and skills they have gained over the past seven months of training.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the programme on Thursday in Abuja, Gusau who also serves as President of the WAFU-B Zone commended the coaches for their commitment throughout the four-module course.

The first phase was held from April 7 to 12, while the subsequent modules ran from October 6 to 10, October 20 to 24, and November 3 to 7, respectively.

“I’m proud of what we’ve achieved so far,” Gusau said. “Even with a year left in our tenure, I’m confident we’ll meet our goals by God’s grace. Since assuming office, we’ve successfully organized CAF B, C, and D License programmes. The CAF C course was dedicated exclusively to women a significant milestone given Nigeria’s leadership in women’s football across Africa.”

He also emphasized the importance of integrating former international players into the coaching framework, saying their wealth of experience would help strengthen football development. “We’re committed to involving our ex-internationals and leveraging their expertise. By organizing instructor courses across different zones, we aim to make training more accessible, so coaches don’t always have to travel to Abuja,” he explained.

Gusau further expressed satisfaction with the positive assessment from CAF Education Officer, Mr. Honour Janza, who praised the professionalism and dedication of the participants.

The NFF President also revealed plans to organize a CAF A-License coaching course before the end of his tenure in September next year. “We’re already working with the technical department and our instructors to kick off the CAF A course in the first quarter of next year,” he confirmed.

Encouraging the coaches to take their expertise beyond local football, Gusau urged them to aspire to international roles. “We want our coaches not just to earn certificates but to make an impact globally. It’s encouraging to see coaches from other countries, like Tanzania, participating in this course. We hope to see more Nigerian coaches working with clubs across Africa,” he added.

Dignitaries at the ceremony included NFF First Vice President Chief Felix Anyansi-Agu; General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi (MON); Deputy General Secretary Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme; NPFL Chief Operating Officer Mr. Davidson Owumi; Technical Director Austin Eguavoen; NNL Chairman Chief George Aluo; CAF Education Officer Honour Janza; NFF Head of Education Dr. Terry Eguaoje; Coaching Instructors Ambassador Henry Abiodun and Mr. Abdulrafiu Yusuf; NFF Director of Media and Communications Dr. Ademola Olajire; and NFF Internal Auditor Mr. Godson Iyere.
