Guwor backs Oborevwori as APC leader in Delta, debunks betrayal claims

Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor has expressed confidence in the leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as the Leader of the All Progressive Congress, APC in the State.

Speaking during a live television interview on Monday, Guwor dismissed any suggestion of betrayal, stating that the decision to move to the APC was borne out of necessity due to the deep-seated crisis in the PDP at the national level.

He said, “Nobody betrayed anybody, the PDP at the national level is challenged with series of litigations. Most recently is the issue of the National Secretary of the party that was decided by the Supreme Court.

“Secondly was the merger issue where Governors of the PDP met in Oyo State and decided that the party will stand alone when it has not been able to hold its NEC meeting in the last one year”.

“It was clear that the PDP does not have a clear cut direction as to its national leadership, hence the decision for the mass movement”, Guwor stated.

When asked if the defection was motivated by personal ambition, Guwor insisted that the interests of Delta State remain paramount.

The Speaker further noted that the Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has performed excellently well and that there was no need for fear of the future.

Guwor described the movement into the APC as a necessary step, saying that the development cuts across all strata of the party having consulted widely with all stakeholders.

He affirmed that there will be no multiplicity of interest ahead of the 2027 election, stressing that all stakeholders of the APC will queue behind the Governor as he takes the lead.

The Speaker assured that the governor will no doubt provide capable leadership as the leader of the APC in the state, saying that the state already aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu which is also in synergy with the MORE Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
