Guwor Calls for Unity, Peace, and Collective Action at Easter

The Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria and Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has sent a message of hope, renewal, and unity to Christians around the world as they celebrate Easter.

In a statement delivered through his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, Guwor said the season highlights the lasting importance of Christ’s sacrificial love, death, and resurrection—events that continue to inspire hope and victory over despair.

He described Easter as central to the Christian faith, emphasizing that it reminds believers that light can conquer darkness and life can overcome death.

Guwor encouraged Christians to reflect on and live out the values demonstrated by Christ, such as love, humility, sacrifice, forgiveness, and faith. He noted that these virtues are vital not only for spiritual development but also for building peaceful, fair, and inclusive societies.

Recognizing the many challenges facing Nigeria and the wider world, he called for unity, resilience, and collective effort in working toward peace, security, and prosperity.

He stressed that the message of Easter shows that no situation is beyond redemption, urging people to remain steadfast, support one another, and work together for a better future.

Guwor also appealed to both leaders and citizens to embrace the spirit of renewal that Easter represents by renewing their commitment to justice, fairness, and service to humanity, noting that this would help strengthen institutions and promote inclusiveness.

He reaffirmed the commitment of State Assemblies to pass laws that support good governance, social justice, and economic development, while continuing to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to improve citizens’ well-being.

Finally, he called for unity among Nigerians regardless of religious, ethnic, or cultural differences, extending warm Easter greetings to Christians in Nigeria and across the globe. He expressed hope that the resurrection of Christ would bring renewed hope, healing, and lasting peace to all.
