The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has encouraged youths and stakeholders in the state to view social media as a valuable tool for driving economic growth, creating jobs, and promoting sustainable development.
Guwor, speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, made these remarks in a goodwill message at the opening of the third Delta State Social Media Summit in Asaba. He praised the organizers for their dedication to using digital platforms to boost the state’s economy and create opportunities for its youth.
He pointed out that the summit’s theme, “Brand Delta, Grow Delta,” captures the state’s goal of leveraging its rich culture, resources, and talent to create a strong identity that attracts investment and drives prosperity. He added, “Social media gives us a powerful platform to promote a positive image of Delta State, highlighting our investment opportunities, cultural heritage, innovations, and human capital to people around the world.”
The Speaker stressed that social media should be used not just for branding, but also as a powerful tool for empowerment, learning new skills, and fostering entrepreneurship.
He assured attendees that the Delta State House of Assembly, under his leadership, is dedicated to supporting policies that advance digital literacy, improve infrastructure, and expand access to technology. According to him, these efforts are aimed at making sure everyone benefits from the digital revolution.
