Former Delta State Governor, Chief James Ibori, on Thursday applauded Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his “remarkable achievements in governance” during their meeting at the Agbarha-Otor country home of the late businessman, Olorogun Oskar Ibru, in Ughelli North.
An excited Ibori stood to welcome Oborevwori as he arrived, a gesture that highlighted renewed unity among political figures from the Delta Central Senatorial District.
In recent weeks, several political stakeholders — including former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege — have publicly acknowledged Oborevwori as the political leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State. In a widely shared video, Ibori offered heartfelt prayers for the governor, predicting electoral success and even hinting at a possible Senate career after his governorship ends in May 2031. He praised Oborevwori’s visionary leadership, citing significant infrastructural progress as well as enhanced peace, unity, and development across the state.
Responding to the development, the Director-General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, described Ibori as a towering figure in Delta politics.
He noted that Ibori’s acknowledgment of Oborevwori’s achievements, dedication, and humility should inspire all political leaders to rally behind the governor and support the MORE Agenda. According to him, “Chief James Ibori remains a father-figure in Delta’s political arena. As we draw closer to another election season, it’s crucial for leaders in Delta Central Senatorial District to unite.”
He stressed that unity in the Urhobo nation is vital to Delta’s political stability. “Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is delivering the kind of leadership that drives rapid development, peace, and progress across Delta Central, Delta North, and Delta South. His practical approach is already producing impressive results.”
Oghenesivbe expressed confidence that Ibori would continue to promote harmony and shared purpose for the benefit of the state. “The era of working against one another is fading. Delta Central leaders are now prepared to pursue joint, meaningful achievements.”
He added that Ibori’s endorsement of Oborevwori for a second term effectively seals the prospects of a 2027 victory for both President Bola Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori in Delta State. He further assured that the APC is set for the 2027 elections and is determined to secure victories in all 25 local government areas.
Ibori’s prayers and endorsement signal a strengthening political coalition around Oborevwori as he pushes forward with his agenda for Delta State’s accelerated growth.
