Idjerhe Chiefs and Monarch Install Solomon Ojariafe as Kingdom’s New Leader

High Chief Solomon Odemero Ojariafe has been officially installed as the new Unugbrogodo of Idjerhe Kingdom in Ethiope West Local Government Area, Delta State, following the passing of the late Chief Josiah Agbamitotor.

Before his elevation, Ojariafe served as the immediate past Unuevworo of the Idjerhe Central Oguedion, a position in which he earned wide admiration for his dignity, integrity, intelligence, and outstanding leadership.

The traditional installation ceremony took place at the Idjerhe Central Oguedion, where the most senior chief, Isaac Ejenavi, performed the customary rites. Following tradition, Chief Ejenavi symbolically moved Ojariafe from the Unuevworo seat to the revered Unugbrogodo seat, formally transferring authority and responsibilities.

The ceremony continued at the royal palace of His Royal Majesty, King Monday Obukowho Whiskey Udurhie I, the Ovie of the Great Idjerhe Kingdom. King Whiskey described the installation as a solemn and culturally significant occasion, praising Ojariafe popularly known as Solodems for his exemplary service as Unuevworo and urging him to lead with fairness, transparency, and inclusivity.

Speaking to reporters after his installation, Ojariafe expressed deep gratitude to God, the monarch, chiefs, youths, women, and all sons and daughters of Idjerhe for entrusting him with the esteemed position. He pledged to work closely with all stakeholders to maintain peace, unity, and progress across the kingdom.

Ojariafe described the day as one of the happiest in the history of his family and the Idjerhe people. He highlighted his commitment to serving the collective interest of the kingdom and stated that his experience as a “digital Unuevworo” would guide a more innovative and digitized approach in his role as Unugbrogodo.

Prominent figures, including Chief William Nani, Bishop Precious Akpore, and Hon. Blessing Achoja, expressed confidence in Ojariafe’s ability to advance the kingdom, calling his emergence timely and praising his leadership qualities.

The installation drew a large gathering of the kingdom’s sons and daughters, including the Otota of Idjerhe Kingdom, Chief James Obriki; Chief Anthony Akpormiemie; members of the Idjerhe Central Oguedion; ICDU leadership; youths, and many others.
