Idjerhe Youth Election: Delta Ministry Hails Peaceful, Transparent Poll

The Delta State Ministry of Youth Development has commended the Idjerhe Community in Ethiope West Local Government Area for the peaceful and credible youth election held at the Community Town Hall.

Mr. Desmond Omoefe emerged as the new Youth Chairman after polling 93 votes to defeat his closest rival, Mr. Aghomi G., who scored 20 votes. Mr. Jackson Eric came a distant third with three votes.

The election, conducted under the direct supervision of the Ministry, recorded impressive turnout and strict adherence to democratic norms, with no reported breach of peace.

Present to monitor the exercise were the President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Delta State Chapter, Comr. Milton Sagboje, community leaders, stakeholders and independent observers.
In his reaction, the Honourable Commissioner for Youth Development, Barr. Harry ThankGod Trakiriowei, represented by the Director of Youth Mobilization and Leadership, Mr. Ogagan Aghogho, praised the maturity exhibited by candidates and voters.

“The Ministry is proud of the orderliness and transparency displayed. This is a shining example of how youth elections should be conducted across the state,” he said.

Barr. Trakiriowei urged the new leadership to collaborate with stakeholders to drive youth development and support Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda in Idjerhe Kingdom.

The Ministry congratulated the community and charged all youths to support the Omoefe-led executive for greater unity and progress.
