Ijaw traditional rulers reaffirms support for PAP administrator, Ndiomu

Traditional rulers in the Niger Delta region, under the aegis of Ijaw Traditional Rulers Forum in Delta State, have reaffirmed their support for the interim administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, retired  Major-General Barry Ndiomu.

The royal fathers, led by the paramount ruler of the oil-rich Ogulagha kingdom in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, His Majesty, Elder (Capt.) Dr. King Joseph Timiyan, Agbonu, Torububor I, commended Ndiomu for “his dedication to stabilizing peace in the region and his approach to conflict resolution and wealth creation for former agitators.”

This was contained in a statement issued from the media office of the PAP, quoting the monarchs as having made the remarks in Warri, Delta State, when Ndiomu visited the chairman of the Traditional Rulers Forum, during an official tour to the metropolis.

The statement states that the royal fathers expressed their appreciation for Ndiomu’s respect for traditional rulers, describing him as “a true Ijaw son, who has been the most accessible head of the PAP to date.”

The monarchs therefore pledged their continued support for Ndiomu, emphasizing that he has delivered on many of his promises to the region.

His Majesty, King Timiyan Agbonu, Torububor I, was further quoted as saying, “We have seen a new dawn for the Amnesty Programme under your (Ndiomu) leadership.

“Unlike in the past, when others who were there do not relate with us, your case is different. Always sharing ideas with us on how to move the amnesty programme forward.

“You always make yourself available. And you have fulfilled most of the promises you made when you came. One good thing about you is the kind of respect you have accorded us as traditional rulers. You love and hold in high esteem the traditional institution which is a very good thing.

“Indeed you’re a true ijaw son. I pray for better days for you and let me again assure you that we will continue to defend you. We will not allow anyone to spoil your good works”.

Ndiomu, in his response, expressed gratitude to the traditional rulers for the support, acknowledging that their encouragement has been a source of strength for him.

He specifically praised King Timiyan for his exemplary leadership, which, according to him, has contributed significantly to peace, unity, and development in Ogulagha kingdom.
