INEC Announces Over 8 Million Online Voter Registrations in Current CVR Drive

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that more than eight million Nigerians have completed online registration as part of the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

According to the latest data obtained by CHANNELS TELEVISION on Tuesday, a total of 8,003,196 online registrations were recorded during the ninth week of the exercise, which ran from October 13th to 19th, 2025.

INEC’s figures reveal that women are leading the way, making up 52.37% of registrants with 4,190,890 entries, while men accounted for 47.63% with 3,812,306 registrations. Young Nigerians aged 18 to 34 are the most active group, representing 69.14% of the total registrants with 5,533,514 participants. This is followed by those aged 35 to 49 with 1,678,212 registrants (20.97%), and those between 50 and 69 years old, who made up 8.81% with 704,866 registrations.

Students led the registration numbers with 2,018,967 entries, making up 25.23% of the total, followed closely by business professionals with 1,659,690 registrations, or 20.74%. People with disabilities (PWDs) accounted for 182,718 registrants, representing 2.29%, showing inclusive participation across different groups. Among the states, Imo recorded the highest number of online pre-registrations with 826,850 entries (10.32%), followed by Lagos with 604,619 (7.56%) and Ogun with 510,062 (6.37%). Yobe State had the lowest, with just 2,714 registrations (0.03%).

INEC also reminded that the Continuous Voter Registration exercise is currently suspended in Anambra State, in accordance with Section 9(6) of the Electoral Act 2022, until the November 8 governorship election is concluded.

A total of 1,710,450 Nigerians have completed biometric registration, both online and in person. Of these, 956,566 registered online, while 753,884 completed their registration at physical centers.

Youth participation remains strong, with 1,261,288 registrants aged 18 to 34, making up 73.74% of the total. Female registrants again led the numbers, with 945,305 (55.27%) compared to 765,145 males (44.73%). People with disabilities (PWDs) made up 24,207 of the total, accounting for 1.41%.

Among those who completed registration, students were the largest group with 566,391 entries (33.11%), followed by businesspeople with 316,295 (18.49%) and housewives with 259,932 (15.28%).

INEC also stressed that the final voter registration numbers will go through a thorough validation process using the Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS). This system helps detect and eliminate duplicate or invalid entries, ensuring that the voter data remains accurate and trustworthy.
