Insecurity: Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom seeks establishment of police area command

The Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom in Delta State, Emmanuel Sideso, has appealed to the Federal Government to establish a police area command in Uvwie, being the most cosmopolitan and industrial hub of the state.

The monarch spoke on Sunday when he received in audience the wife of the Inspector General of Police, Mrs Elizabeth Egbetokun, who paid him a courtesy visit to his palace.

The monarch said, “Without peace and security, there would not be development.”

The traditional ruler stated that although he had succeeded in stabilising the situation with the setting up of a security committee made up of diverse ethnic groups, a police command in the area would go a long way in complimenting the achievements.

While assuring her that Uvwie would continue to pray for the IG “for success in the huge task of maintaining peace and security in Nigeria.”

Responding, the IG’s wife commended the monarch “for creating the enabling environment to blend modernity and tradition as well as ensuring peace and security in the domain” promising to add her voice to the creation of an area command in Uvwie.
