Isoko South LG Chairman, Friday Warri commends NYSC member for life-changing projects

The Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area in Delta State, Friday Ovoke Warri, has urged National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to prioritize their Community Development Service (CDS) initiatives and contribute meaningfully to their host communities.

Warri made the call on Thursday while commissioning two projects—a water-jacking pump and a volleyball court—built by NYSC member George Godwin Nwankwo at St. Michael’s College, Oleh, the headquarters of Isoko South.

The council chairman praised Nwankwo for his dedication, describing the projects as life-changing and aligned with the administration’s goal of improving rural communities. “Our administration is committed to initiating people-oriented projects that have a direct impact on the lives of our residents,” Warri stated.

He encouraged NYSC members to view their assignments as opportunities to give back to their communities, adding that such efforts rekindle hope and inspire governments to do more. Warri assured that his administration would continue to complement such initiatives, emphasizing his vision of “Warri, for your worries.”

George Nwankwo, who executed the projects as part of his CDS with state code DT/24A/1333, thanked the council chairman for his commitment to alleviating the suffering of the people. He noted that the water pump and volleyball court would enhance infrastructure at St. Michael’s College, supporting both academic and extracurricular activities.

A staff member of the school expressed gratitude to Nwankwo, highlighting the importance of diversifying sports opportunities for students beyond football. The staff also praised the council chairman for commissioning the projects and his generous donation of two million naira to further improve the school’s facilities.

The event underscored the importance of grassroots development and the critical role of NYSC members in fostering community growth and progress.
