Isunambogu Social Club Gifts Supplies to Schools in Ibusa

The Isunambogu Social Club of Ibusa Worldwide has generously donated 100 desks and chairs to Omu Model Primary School and Omu Boys Secondary School, both located in Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.

Speaking at the donation event on Tuesday, the Club’s President-General, Engr. Patrick Okonji, described this contribution as one of their flagship projects and a reflection of their ongoing dedication to community development.

He also highlighted several other initiatives the club has undertaken over the years, such as building classrooms, offering scholarships, donating to Ibusa General Hospital, and supporting peacekeeping efforts. “In Ibusa, anything that promotes development is close to our hearts—that has been our identity for decades,” Okonji said, encouraging students to value their education.

Representing the Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu, the Chief Inspector of Education, Mrs. Rosemary Anyah, praised the club’s efforts, emphasizing that the government alone cannot handle all responsibilities. She added that the donation would help ease the shortage of furniture in public schools.

“This initiative is deeply appreciated by His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, who recognizes that the government can’t do it all alone. I also want to take this opportunity to encourage individuals, clubs, and corporate organizations to follow this example by supporting our schools, especially in areas like security and infrastructure,” she said.

Chief Victor Uchunor, President-General of the Ibusa Community Development Union (ICDU), praised the effort but also cautioned against vandalism of donated facilities. “When people step up to support the government with projects and those efforts are destroyed, it discourages others from contributing. Schools should establish committees involving parents to help protect these assets,” he advised.

In his remarks, Mr. Hypolite Iwunor, the club’s secretary, shared a brief history of the organization, which was founded in 1978 and now has over 100 members across branches in Ibusa, Lagos, Benin, London, and beyond. He reaffirmed the club’s commitment to continuing its support for education, health, and other community development initiatives.

The Principal of Omu Boys Secondary School, Mrs. Augustina Omeife, thanked the club on behalf of the staff and students, describing the donation as the “fulfillment of a long-awaited need.” She also prayed for the ongoing success and prosperity of the club and its members.

Likewise, the Assistant Senior Prefect, Solomon Wisdom, expressed his gratitude for the club’s generosity and promised that the new furniture would be well cared for and put to good use.
