Jaro Egbo intervenes in the proposed new price of sand supply in Ughelli North

In a meeting held Tuesday, 31st December, 2024, between members of Sand dredgers Association and Union of Tippers and Quarry Employers of Nigeria (UTQUEN) at his office, the Ughelli North Council Chairman, Barr. Jaro Egbo, revealed that the new proposed price of sixty five thousand (N65,000) will place more burden on buyers/developers hence calls for review of the price to a more affordable rate that will suit both parties (buyers and sellers) in the local government.

The Council Chairman, Barr Jaro Egbo during the meeting, also placed a ban on the the sales of watering sands to customers due to the havoc the dropping sands from tippers are causing to roads, advised drivers to always supply dry sands to customers, and have their sands covered with tarpaulin to avoid pouring along the tarred road.

The Chairman further disclosed that, a task force would be set up soon to checkmate the activities of defaulters (Tipper drivers) who fail to comply with the decision of the government.

Council Officials present during the meeting includes; secretary to the local government, Hon Pastor Goodluck Irikefe Unuavworho, Principal Secretary to the Chairman, Olorogun Fidelis Erhiurhore, OC Security UNLG, Mr Godwin Onovweghware, Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Mr Efe Ekete, Assistant Director of information, Mrs Anna Inana, Special Adviser on Youth to the Chairman, Mr Ruben Igbuku among others.
