#Justice4Mohbad: Youths hold rally in Effurun to protest late singer's death

Hundreds of youths in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, on Thursday, held a rally in honour of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, aka Mohbad, calling on relevant authorities, especially the police, to conduct a thorough investigation and prosecution of whoever his killers.

The youths began the rally at the Awenayeri filling station by Bendel Estate junction along Airport Road in Effurun.

They played songs of the deceased as they bore placards with inscriptions such as “#Justice4Mohbad. Say No to Marlians”, “#You don’t have to kill somebody before you sing #Justice4Mohbad Imole. Who off the light”, “If to say Na Jazz, E for don cast. If to say Na soap, we 4 Don baff am finish. #Justice4Mohbad a.k.a Imole#” and “Justice for Mohbad. Justice for Imole #WarriJusticeforMohbad#”.

The youths also demanded that Mohbad’s wife be invited and interrogated with a DNA test conducted on her son to ascertain his true paternity.

They also urged the police to arrest his father to explain his reasons for rushing the burial of his son, adding that Naira Marley, his former label boss and the youths alleged to have injected the deceased be arrested.

One of the protesters, Odivri Elo Sandra, wept profusely and likened Mohbad’s death to her life, saying she had no family. She added that if she dies, her remains should be buried at the cemetery, stressing that those close to her do not love her.

A Warri-based musician, MLI Imole, said the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, should also be investigated for denying the arrest of the late musician last year in February 2022.

The rally ended with a candle light procession later in the evening.
