A quiet but deeply emotional scene played out in Delta State as the remains of Late Mama Asetu Fufeyin, mother of Senior Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin, were moved from Veenell Mortuary to her hometown in Ojobo Community, Burutu Local Government Area, for her final rites.
On Friday December 12, relatives, church members, friends and residents gathered to accompany the solemn procession, marking the start of the ceremonies honouring the respected matriarch.
Mama Asetu, celebrated for her long life and influence across her community, was remembered as a woman of unwavering faith, humility and compassion.
Senior Prophet Fufeyin, founder of the Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, along Effurun-Sapele Expressway in Effurun, has released a detailed programme for her burial, including a Service of Songs, interment and a series of memorial activities in Ojobo.
The events are expected to draw a large turnout from within Delta State and beyond, given the family’s strong religious and community ties.
Those present at the mortuary described the moment as both painful and uplifting. Many shared personal memories of Mama Asetu’s guidance, generosity and role in strengthening family and community bonds.
Tributes highlighted her lasting impact on the church and the many lives she touched over the decades.
As her body was transported home, the atmosphere was filled with a blend of grief and gratitude — mourning her departure while celebrating a life well-lived.
Final rites will continue in Ojobo and surrounding communities, where mourners are expected to converge to pay their last respects.
