Ministry of Environment seals buildings for discharging waste into public drainage in Asaba

The Delta State Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Jamani Tommy Ejiro in the early hours of Friday January 17, 2025, sealed off a mini Estate and other properties at Olulu Street off Anwai Road, Asaba for contravening environmental laws by connecting and discharging their sewage waste into public drains.

Mr Jamani who has been actively working to enforce environmental laws in the state was furious with the level of environmental hazards caused by residents of the area.

The environment commissioner who ordered the immediate sealing of the place also directed that an abatement notice be served the owners of the properties.

The Commissioner had earlier pledged to focus on quality service delivery in ensuring a cleaner and healthier environment.

The government has also emphasized the importance of a clean environment, with Mr Jamani stating that the state governor has prioritized a clean environment to keep Deltans healthy and productive.

The properties sealed off in Asaba were done as part of the government’s efforts to enforce environmental laws and regulations.

Other areas visited include; Jaret street off Cable point, Asaba.
