Mixed reactions have trailed the achievements of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State as his administration clocks two years come May 29, 2025.
Chairman of Igala Community in Delta State, Alhaji Abubakar Wada , expressed mixed feelings about how the administration of Delta State Governor has fared in two years.
He said though Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration had done much especially in road infrastructure, human capital development and empowerment, but noted that Igala Community in Delta had not really benefited from the administration.
He appealed to the Delta State Governor to support Igala Community in the state, saying that his people are farmers, traders and marketers who have continued to contribute to the economy of Delta State.
“Politically, the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has not given us any appointments. The government has not given us empowerment. Since 2010 when I came over to Delta State, Igala Community in the state has been aligning with the political party of every successive administration.
“Today, we are in the same All Progressives Congress with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. But there is nothing we have benefitted. We need empowerment , we need appointments from the government”.
Wada who is also the Chairman of Igala Muslem Association in Delta State however urged his people to continue to support the policies and programmes of the Delta State Government, and be law abiding.
He said, “All the entire Igala Community in Delta, we need to work with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, so that anything that we need, will be provided for us. We cry to the governor to remember the entire Igala, just as he is doing well for Delta indigenes”
“If you ask me what my ministry had achieved, I have a lot to talk about but what is critical is that we have somebody who is the boss, the organizer, the coordinator who coordinates all the ministries, so all the performances, score card at every point in time goes to him because it is through his benevolence that we have been given the authority to do what we are doing in all the MDAs.
“And I can tell that, and say it without mincing words that this Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is a class of his own.
“To start with, I don’t want to talk about the expansion that have taken place in Asaba since he came onboard, I don’t want to talk about for the fact that Warri is today a construction site, just like all the local government area headquarters are.
“Delta State Governor has done well . He has saved so much of billions of Naira,
so if I begin to tell you in real terms of savings that his administration has been able to record in running the economy of Delta state , you will marvel” Tilije added.
The Delta State Commissioner for Finance who pointed out that no contractor was being owed for project done, said the state had enough funds to run the budget of the current year without borrowing from any financial institution.
