35-year-old mother of three, Joyce Ughovwan, yesterday shared the harrowing ordeal she went through after being kidnapped and robbed following an evening lecture during this year’s Christian Feast of Tabernacles at God’s Kingdom Society (GKS) in Salem City, Warri, Delta State.
Joyce was accosted by two men who suddenly appeared from a keke (tricycle) at Udu Express Junction. She was beaten, blindfolded with her hair tie, and forced into the vehicle.
Joyce revealed that the kidnappers took her phone, POS machine, and ATM card, and extorted over N700,000 from her.
She explained that she was eventually dropped off at Agbaro Expressway, where she managed to escape and seek help from a passerby. Joyce also noted that the kidnappers attempted to use her phone to call contacts for ransom before she was finally freed late at night.
The incident has been reported to the authorities, and Joyce Ughovwan intends to file a formal statement.
